Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility Plan is now available
Every 4 years, the City Clerk / Returning Officer prepares a plan outlining how Elections Markham will identify, remove and prevent barriers for voters and candidates in an upcoming municipal election.
The City Clerk / Returning Officer also prepares a report within 90 days of Final Voting Day on the outcomes of the plan. This post-election report will help identify opportunities for continued improvement and shape Elections Markham’s plan for the 2026 Municipal Election.
Elections Markham is pleased to share that its 2022 Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Plan is now live on the election website.
In preparing our 2022 IDEA Plan, Elections Markham reviewed voter and candidate feedback from the 2018 Municipal Election, used preliminary findings from the City of Markham’s new Diversity Action Plan community consultations, and worked with the City’s Inclusivity, Equity and Diversity Specialist, Accessibility Advisory Committee, Race Relations Committee and Senior’s Advisory Committee to get feedback on the City’s 2022 election model.
